One shape. Then stop.
A minimal logo is what remains after the second idea is removed. Name the brand and the one thing the mark should keep. The nine results are different ideas, not the same line in nine weights.
The constraint
-
01
One idea in the cell.
-
02
Mostly one color.
-
03
It still has to read when it is small.
A new account gets 50 credits. One image costs 30. One SVG costs 5. You download a PNG and an SVG for the brand you are designing.
The brief
- Name: Feld, a studio that draws planting plans, not buildings.
- One idea in each mark, mostly one color, readable small.
- Leave out trees, leaves, mountains, globes, and compass roses.
What Feld kept
The pictures come from a planting drawing: a bed edge, a specimen dot, a furrow, a scale. The tree never got in.
-
1
Bed edge
feld in a serif, on a line that runs past the d.
-
2
Specimen
FELD with a dot after it, the way a survey marks a point.
-
3
Planted row
A one-stroke f. Its bar continues into three dashes.
-
4
Notation
A circle, a center dot, and a short tick.
-
5
Furrow
Three lines. The middle one is broken, with a dot on the dash.
-
6
Grouping
An arc of circles, one of them filled.
-
7
Trowel
A blade and a handle. The most literal cell, and the first one to cut if the set gets simpler.
-
8
Scale
A measured rule. Three ticks carry a small circle.
-
9
Stamp
feld knocked out of a dark circle, a dot left inside the e.
The small-size test
Cover the caption. If the mark needs the sentence to explain it, it is not finished. The word and the dot still read. The trowel is the one that starts to look like a tool icon.
